PISCATAWAY -- Chris Ash opened last Tuesday's Rutgers football practice spitting fire as he tried to preempt the possibility of a letdown against Eastern Michigan.
The second-year coach's worst fear might have happened anyway Saturday as Rutgers suffered a head-scratching 16-13 loss to a program that previously was 0-38 against Big Ten opponents.
"I feel like as a team we underestimated them," graduate transfer wide receiver Damon Mitchell.
"All due respect to Eastern Michigan, but you get a pat on your back from playing with a ranked opponent the week before.
