Rutgers held out longer than some Big Ten teams, but it is now in the business of cutting seven-figure checks to opponents to host non-conference football games.
In filling out its 2019 schedule last week, Rutgers announced home games against Massachusetts and Liberty. Because the games are one-time visits and not part of a home-and-home series, it is standard practice for the home team to pay the visitors a lump sum.
Liberty will receive $1 million for its Oct. 26, 2019 visit to High Point Solutions Stadium, while UMass will receive a $1.
