PISCATAWAY -- The cost of Rutgers football doing business in the Big Ten just went up by six figures.
In its first year under coach Chris Ash, Rutgers followed the lead of other Big Ten schools and moved its players into a Piscataway-based hotel for the three weeks of training camp in August.
Rutgers spent $132,480 to lodge its roster of 104 players plus select staff members for 21 nights, according to a receipt obtained by NJ Advance Media through an Open Public Records Act request.
As is common with business conferences and wedding parties, the hotel provided Rutgers with a group discount rate.
