NEW YORK -- From what he's been told, Chris Ash is confident that the Rutgers football team will have access to its new practice fields when training camp begins.
"That's what we're being told,'' Ash said. "But we've had a lot of rain. Hopefully the weather cooperates the rest of the summer and it can stay on schedule. To my knowledge right now, it's close to being on schedule so our plan is to have it opened on Aug. 1 and have a ribbon-cutting ceremony there relatively quick after that.''
But that doesn't mean the Scarlet Knights will be staging all of their training-camp practices on their pristine sod-turf fields.
