PISCATAWAY – There is no magic button at Rutgers president Robert Barchi’s disposal that allows him to dismantle the athletics department.
That had to be done step by step.
Four months ago, Julie Hermann, Kyle Flood and Eddie Jordan held the three most prominent public spotlight positions in Rutgers athletics.
Today, all three are gone and replaced with higher-paid successors from the outside, after athletic director Pat Hobbs unveiled new men’s basketball coach Steve Pikiell.
