PISCATAWAY — Unlike during spring practice, Rutgers doesn't hand out awards for training camp. Awards aren't really necessary for camp because the reward for standouts is playing time during the season.
But after watching every (open) practice during training camp, a number of players deserve recognition for their play. Performances in scrimmages carry added weight, but consistency over three weeks of practices is also an important factor.

I've handed out awards for five different categories: Offensive MVP, defensive MVP, most improved offensive player, most improved defensive player and freshman most likely to make an impact.
