PISCATAWAY -- Giovanni Rescigno didn't throw an interception or fumble the ball on any of his seven rushing attempts in Rutgers' 14-12 win over Purdue on Saturday, executing a turnover-free offense.
"We didn't have any turnover ... we emphasized that this week,'' Rescigno said after improving to 2-0 as Rutgers' starting quarterback this fall. "It was a big part of us winning this game.''
That's true.
But for the second straight week, the Scarlet Knights' passing attack was virtually non-existent. One week after completing 5 of 10 passes for 89 yards in a win at Illinois, Rescigno's stat line against Purdue was nearly identical: a 50 percent completion percentage (9-for-18) and 87 yards passing.
