Four-star N.J. quarterback Jarrett Guarantano chooses Tennessee over Rutgers

A potential game-changing quarterback is leaving Rutgers' backyard. Four-star prospect Jarrett Guarantano announced Wednesday afternoon that he will attend Tennessee.

The announcement dashed the hopes of Rutgers coaches and fans who hoped the Oradell native and Bergen Catholic High star would choose to represent his state school. A member of the class of 2016, Guarantano narrowed a list of more than 40 scholarship offers to three finalists: Tennessee, Rutgers and Ohio State. While Ohio State signaled it was out of the running by landing another 2016 quarterback on Wednesday morning, Rutgers was in contention until the 6-foot-4, 196-pounder announced his intention to join the Volunteers at a ceremony in the Bergen Catholic library.
