Forget Saquon Barkley, Rutgers coach Chris Ash says QB Trace McSorley is key to Penn State offense

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Don't get Chris Ash wrong. The Rutgers coach knows what Saquon Barkley means to a Penn State offense that ranks second in the Big Ten in both points (38.0) and yards (443.6) per game.

But Ash also believes the most valuable player is Barkley's backfield mate.

"Everyone talks about Barkley and he's an outstanding player,'' Ash said, "but when they started playing with Trace last year their offense took off.''

Of course, Ash is referring to Trace McSorley, Penn State's fourth-year junior quarterback.
