Of course, not all Week 1 opponents were equal. While Rutgers played an experienced team that played in the College Football Playoff nine months ago, Illinois, Michigan State, Iowa, Penn State, Northwestern, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Minnesota all played non-Power 5-Conference foes.

Inside the aforementioned statistics, Rutgers gained 131 rushing yards, yielded 84 on the ground, passed for 178 yards and surrendered 284 through the air.

None of those stats are eye-popping, but the good news is Rutgers doesn’t rank in the bottom three of the Big Ten in any meaningful statistic after playing a top-notch opponent.
