Ex-Rutgers AD Bob Mulcahy rips Tennessee to defend Schiano's integrity: 'Unwilling to stand up'

As Bob Mulcahy watched from afar Sunday, the former Rutgers athletics director was disgusted not only by the character assassination of Greg Schiano but by the University of Tennessee's lack of fortitude.

Mulcahy was the first to identify a then-unknown Schiano when he tapped him as Rutgers football coach in December 2000. Over the next eight years, the two teamed up to take Rutgers from arguably the worst major college football program in the country into the national rankings and to the top of the NCAA's APR ratings.

Schiano nearly had the chance to lead a rebuild at Tennessee, but a hateful mob of fans, including politicians, stormed social media Sunday with relentless backlash against the hire.
