When he took over the Rutgers wrestling program 11 years ago, Scott Goodale had a list of goals. One of them, the Scarlet Knights coach recalled, included producing the type of enthusiasm that would lead to huge sums of private support.
"One of the things we talked about was getting (big) donations,'' Goodale said.
After gradually building a program that was competitive against its peer Northeast foes, Goodale has taken the Scarlet Knights to new heights over the last three years. Since 2014-15, the Rutgers wrestling program has won 71.4 percent of its dual matches, produced 21 national-tournament qualifiers and five All-Americans.
