Did Rutgers win transfer market? Comparing 2017 production of incoming, outgoing players

The transfer is college football's closest thing to a trade or a free-agent signing.

Using that analogy, Rutgers won on the trade market last offseason.

Rutgers lost seven scholarship players who transferred to other schools between the end of the 2016 season and the start of the 2017 season.

On the other hand, Rutgers brought in five graduate transfers during that same span who played this past season.

That number does not include sit-out transfers like cornerback Tre Avery of Akron or transfers like Jerome Washington, who made his Rutgers debut in 2017 (leading the team in catches and receiving yards) after transferring from Miami in 2016.
