Chris Ash named Artur Sitkowski his starting quarterback this past Friday, but the Rutgers coach did not speak to the media following the decision.
That changed Monday, when Ash touched on what went into the call to go with the rookie at the top of his first press conference of the regular season.
"First and foremost, he's a talented individual," Ash said. "He's got a lot of skill sets. He can make a lot of throws. But above and beyond that, he's a leader. People follow him. He's been able to galvanize the offense around him, not only for this training camp but in the summer and in the spring.
