PISCATAWAY – One of the most synergetic coaching staffs in all of college basketball is breaking up.
Rutgers women’s basketball assistant coaches Tia Jackson and Chelsea Newton have resigned in order to accept positions elsewhere, the school announced Monday.
Both Jackson and Newton played for Rutgers head coach C. Vivian Stringer, as did fellow assistant coach Tasha Pointer, who is remaining on the bench.
“While the news is indeed difficult to announce, I am excited for the new journeys in both Tia and Chelsea’s careers,” Stringer said in a statement. “I’ve known both of them since they were 17 years old and they have both set the standard as a student-athlete and as a coach.
