SEATTLE — He had warned this day was coming. Chris Ash had enjoyed an eight-and-a-half-month honeymoon since taking over at Rutgers, making important behind-the-scenes changes and doing better on the recruiting trail than even he had expected.
Still: This day was coming.

"We did talk to (the players) extensively that the first eight months here of our tenure has gone extremely well," Ash said after his coaching debut was in the books. "It's been very smooth, but at some point that's going to change.
