Bo Melton, Owen Bowles of Cedar Creek sign to play football for Rutgers on National Signing Day

Cedar Creek's Bo Melton and Owen Bowles were among the first elite New Jersey players to commit to first-year Rutgers coach Chris Ash before their senior seasons.

On Wednesday, the current and future teammates made it official by signing their letters of intent with the state University.

They will join former Cedar Creek players Damon and Ahmir Mitchell, who both transferred to Rutgers. Ahmir left Michigan and Damon is coming from Arkansas.

Cedar Creek coach Tim Watson plans plenty of Saturday tailgates if the Pirates don't have a game.

"I'm really excited about that, to have a chance to see them," said Watson.
