A year ago, Rutgers ended the season on a high note. Sure, the Scarlet Knights bowed out of the Big Ten Tournament with an 83-61 loss.
But Rutgers defied expectations by upsetting Ohio State in the opening round, earning the program's first Big Ten Tournament triumph in the process.
"We overachieved,'' Steve Pikiell said during the final press conference of his inaugural campaign as Rutgers coach. I'm excited about that. We need to do that moving forward — overachieve. We have to improve in every area. We know that. We'll do that.''

While one can debate whether the Scarlet Knights improved this season, this much is impossible to argue: Pikiell’s squad certainly didn’t overachieve in Year 2.
