Maybe it's just a coincidence. Or perhaps the Big Ten is hoping to making Rutgers vs. Penn State a rivalry game.
Whatever the reason, the border-state foes will square off to end both the 2020 and '21 seasons. The Big Ten announced the conference schedules for those two seasons, and Rutgers will now have games against Michigan State and Penn State back-to-back to conclude the 2019, '20 and '21 campaigns.
Rutgers will play nine conference games in each season. Crossover games include West Division foes' Purdue, Nebraska and Illinois in 2020 and Illinois, Wisconsin and Northwestern in 2021.
