PISCATAWAY — Rutgers has been playing football for 147 years, so it's impossible to know whether the Scarlet Knights on Saturday played the worst half in school history.
But it certainly ranks near the very top of the list.
There's inexplicable and then there was this: Howard 14, Rutgers 14.
If the first 15 minutes was rock bottom for a Rutgers program that clearly is in rebuilding mode in its first season under coach Chris Ash, the second quarter was only mildly more successful.
The Scarlet Knights pulled even with a second-quarter touchdown, but still heard some boo birds from the crowd as they went into the locker room.
