A Rutgers quarterback twist: Gio Rescigno's rise from No. 4 to No. 2 on depth chart

SEATTLE -- The one thing working in Giovanni Rescigno's favor back when Rutgers had a three-way quarterback battle was that his mobility made him a better fit than either Chris Laviano or Hayden Rettig to run the power spread offense.

Then Rutgers added dual-threat quarterback Zach Allen as a graduate transfer from TCU in June and named him a co-starter with Laviano when training camp opened.

It seemed Rescigno was buried as option No. 4, lower on the pecking order than he was last season and during the ensuing spring camp.
