A look at how much Rutgers coaches earn and where their salaries rank in Big Ten

During the most recent fiscal year, Rutgers’ coaching salaries increased 20.4 percent from 2015, according to the university’s financial document submitted to the NCAA.

While coaching salaries made up the largest portion (15.7 percent) of Rutgers athletics’ operating expenses in 2016, the head-coaches salaries comprised 7.6 percent of the $83.9 million expense budget.

But an NJ Advance Media study has revealed that the majority of the 20 Rutgers head coaches have annual salaries that pale in comparison to their Big Ten peers.
