Rutgers posted its worst offensive campaign in recent memory, scoring the fewest points (188) since 2002, tallying the fewest yards (3,398) since that season year, and producing the fewest passing yards (1,659) since 2001. It was a rocky beginning for offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer, who shelved the Pro-style offense that Rutgers had employed for more than a decade and installed a Power-spread scheme. Head coach Chris Ash recently expressed confidence in his young play-caller to right the ship.
