PISCATAWAY -- The last time that Rutgers suffered a third straight shutout loss within the same season the winning team was ranked No. 10 in the nation.
It was Yale. The year was 1936. And Rutgers was shut out in six straight games that season.
Rutgers will try to avoid repeating the feat 80 years later at noon Saturday against Illinois. Actually, the real goal is to snap a three-game losing streak and salvage fan interest in the second half of the season.
