When Rutgers cancelled its home-and-home series with UCLA for the 2020-21 seasons and added two games with Syracuse instead, the school made it even more apparent it will emphasize scheduling regional non-conference opponents.
“Returning the Rutgers-Syracuse series, which has a long history will be exciting for both fan bases,” Rutgers coach Chris Ash said in a statement announcing the move.
“With our non-conference schedule, we have focused on adding games that showcase great football in this region.”
Syracuse jouns Boston College, Temple, UMass and Virginia Tech as Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern schools the Scarlet Knights have recently added to their future schedules.
