It's good to be Jay Niemann these days. While new Rutgers offensive coordinator John McNulty figures to have plenty of restless nights trying to solve the myriad of issues plaguing the offense, the Scarlet Knights defensive coordinator overseas a depth chart with fewer uncertainties.
The defensive backfield featuring cornerbacks Blessuan Austin and Isaiah Wharton and safeties Saquan Hampton and K.J. Gray figures to be one of the Big Ten's best. The linebacker corps featuring Deonte Roberts and Trevor Morris could be an upper-echelon unit as well. While the defensive line has some question marks after the graduation of Sebastian Joseph and Kemoko Turay, there appears to be some talent waiting in the wings.
