Rudy Gobert Wins Defensive Player of the Year

Eric Walden of the Salt Lake Tribune reports Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert has won the 2020-21 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award.

Gobert has won the award three times in the last four seasons, receiving 84 first-place votes. Ben Simmons came in second in the voting, receiving 15 first-place votes.

A favorite to win the award as of Mar. 8, with -210 odds on FanDuel Sportsbook, Gobert was second in rebounds per game, averaging 14.3 and led the league with 2.7 blocks per game. Playing in 71 games this season, he averaged 31 minutes, 14 points, 13 rebounds and one assist per game with a 17% usage rate.
