Randy Dobnak Signs Five-Year Extension With Twins

Dobnak is one of the best stories in baseball. He was undrafted out of Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia, and he signed with the Twins for $500 following a stint in the Independent League. He had previously worked as an Uber driver during the offseason, but his days of driving people around are probably over. ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports he’s agreed to a five-year, $9.25M contract extension. The deal also includes three team options, and the deal can max out at $29.75M. Overall, the deal gives Dobnak some financial security, while it gives the Twins the opportunity to get a huge bargain if he continues to develop as a pitcher.
