The NFL has already moved to a 17-game season for the 2021-22 season for the first time in league history, and there could be more games added to the season in the future. NBC Sports’ Peter King reports that “most observers” believe the NFL will move to an 18-game season, possibly after current commissioner Roger Goodell leaves office. King said he expects that to happen by the 2024 or 2025 season, and whoever takes over will likely make expanding the schedule a priority.
