Forbes just bestowed the honor on the NBA legend ... after it says his sale of his stake in the Charlotte Hornets earlier this summer pushed his net worth to $3 BILLION.
Jordan, according to the outlet, now comes in at No. 397 among the country's wealthiest 400 ... just a few slots below WWE honcho Vince McMahon.
He's become the first professional athlete to ever make the list.
