Mark Turgeon is going for it all. But he’s playing with fire in the process.
There’s a lot we don’t know about Rasheed Sulaimon, who was dismissed from Duke under questionable circumstances in January and will suit up for Maryland in his final season of eligibility. He was reportedly twice informally accused of sexual assault, but posits that wasn’t the grounds for his dismissal. He was the first player dismissed in Mike Krzyzewski’s 35-year tenure, and claims it was for his handling of a diminishing role on a deep, championship-bound team.
But the fact that we’re raising these questions at all means he will be a huge gamble for Turgeon and the Terps, who already were entering the 2015-16 season as a Top 10 team.
