Giles pitched just 3.2 innings in 2020, but he was one of the best receivers in baseball in 2019. He pitched to a 1.87 ERA and 2.27 FIP while striking out an average of 14.09 batters per nine innings. He’ll be looking for a fresh start in 2021, and MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reports that he signed a two-year, $7M deal with the Mariners. The contract also includes options and incentive bonuses that could bring the total value to $19M over three years. He’ll only make $1M in 2021 — plus a $500K signing bonus — with the majority of the money coming on the back end.
