James Winston Signs One-Year Deal with Saints

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, quarterback Jameis Winston has agreed to a one-year $12 million deal with the New Orleans Saints.

Winston, the Saints backup quarterback, played four games for the team, throwing 11 passes for 75 yards. Last season, the Saints averaged 234 passing yards per game, with a 70.9% completion rate, the best in the league.

Winston should start the season as the Saints’ starting quarterback, with former starter Drew Brees announcing his retirement on Sunday.

Taysom Hill also started at quarterback last season, with Brees missing four games due to a rib injury.
