The plot of It’s a Wonderful Life goes a little something like this: Eternally down-on-his-luck George Bailey attempts to commit suicide when he’s saved by his guardian angel Clarence. Clarence shows George, who wishes he’d never been born, what it would look like if he’d never been born. George is horrified by what he sees in this harrowing alternate reality — including the grave of his brother Harry, whose life he saved when they were children — and asks for a second chance at life.
