The worldwide community of sports fans, for the most part, is made up of individuals who love and respect the sport and the athletes they root for, and against.
However, it's no secret that sometimes fans get carried away (to say the least). Over the past decade, athletes in almost every major sport have spoken out about fans who have disrespected them on a level that is completely unacceptable. And that's exactly what happened to Arizona Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte this week.
During Tuesday night's game against the Chicago White Sox, Marte was taunted by a 22-year-old heckler who decided to make derogatory comments about his dead mother.
