Groin injury not serious for Rangers’ Igor Shesterkin

A groin injury suffered by Igor Shesterkin of the Rangers is not considered to be serious. Shesterkin sustained the injury with just over five minutes to play in the Rangers’ eventual win over the Devils. The injury occurred when Shesterkin was quickly trying to get post-to-post, and his legs ended up getting split. He couldn’t put any weight on the leg, and a groin injury was immediately suspected.

While Shesterkin did have to be helped off the ice, that looks to be the worst of this injury. Alexander Georgiev will start Saturday versus the Devils, but Shesterkin may be able to play as soon as Sunday in Pittsburgh, but Tuesday also versus the Penguins or Thursday in Boston seems more likely.
