After Adam Jones told the world that he been called the n-word by fans at Fenway Park on Tuesday night, the wagon circling began for those in the Boston media who refuse to accept their city’s flaws. The popular take was that Jones was making it up — or at least could be making it up, seeing as their was no video evidence to corroborate his story. Why? Because Adam Jones has a history of bringing up “racism” in the same sentence as “baseball” (to thick-headed white guys this makes him a “race-baiter”), but more likely than Jones’ history with the subject, the culprit behind the conspiracy theories is Boston’s infamous persecution complex.
