When Garrett McNamara paddles out into one of the world’s biggest breaks, he knows what he’s getting into. In fact, seeing as he’s the only person have successfully ridden a wave larger than 90 feet, it’s safe to say he knows more about surfing giant swells than just about anyone on Earth.
Here’s what it looked like when his broke his own world record off the rocky coast Nazaré, Portugal. That’s 100 feet of pure death traveling over 50 miles per hour…and he’s standing on it.
