Weber State toughs out 26-20 FCS playoff victory over Kennesaw State

Ogden • It took some grinding, but Weber State is on its way to the third round of the FCS football playoffs after a 26-20 victory over visiting Kennesaw State on Saturday afternoon at Stewart Stadium.

The 10-3 Wildcats, who are the No. 3 overall seed and had a bye past the first round, trailed the Owls (11-3) at halftime, before getting some big plays in the third quarter to change the momentum.

The biggest pivot came on Kennesaw’s opening possession after halftime. Owls quarterback Jonathan Murphy, who ran for 98 yards in the first half, made an errant pitch that was picked up by 'Cats defensive lineman Adam Rodriguez — who ran 24 yards for a touchdown to give Weber State its first lead of the game at 19-17.
