RSL got out of the gates quick and withstood a late comeback attempt in a 3-2 win over the Colorado Rapids in the first leg of the Rocky Mountain Cup on Saturday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado. Albert Rusnák, Corey Baird and Sam Johnson all scored goals while Andrew Putna stopped a second-half penalty to secure victory on the road for the team’s second road win of the season.
Real Salt Lake is now 4-6-1 (13 points) and back in seventh place in the Western Conference, above the playoff line with two straight home games on the horizon.
