Thabo Sefolosha passes concussion protocol in time for Thunder tipoff

Oklahoma City • After taking a shot to the head on Monday, Thabo Sefolosha didn’t ask to be subbed out. Coach Quin Snyder, who didn’t see the injury unfold, didn’t sub him out either.

It was a rare case of benching by referee: Ben Taylor, one of the officials for the Jazz-Wizards game, told Sefolosha to take a seat and undergo concussion protocol.

Sefolosha looked surprised to be benched, and Snyder later acknowledged he was surprised at the time. The decision meant Sefolosha had to undergo both team and NBA concussion protocol before he could play on Tuesday night.
