Eight months after knocking BYU out of the NIT with a convincing win, the Mavericks did it again Saturday night, thumping the Cougars 89-75 in a nonconference matchup.
BYU missed 16 straight 3-point attempts during a particularly cold stretch and finished just 6 of 27 from beyond the arc.
Meanwhile UTA was 12 of 20 from 3-point range and got 23 points from Kevin Hervey and 21 from Erick Neal to win easily after taking a 105-89 win last March in an NIT first-round game.
The Mavericks were 6 of 10 from 3-point range in the first half and used that torrid shooting to take a 43-28 halftime lead.
