Sterling Van Wagenen, a filmmaker with deep ties in Utah’s movie industry, will appear in an American Fork courtroom Tuesday morning to hear the child sex abuse charge against him.
Van Wagenen is scheduled to be in 4th District Court at 8:30 a.m. for what’s called an initial appearance. A judge will inform Van Wagenen of the charges, inquire whether the defendant has an attorney and schedule the next proceeding in the case. Van Wagenen has been free and was issued a summons to appear in court.
Van Wagenen has been charged with one count of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony.
