A blown transformer knocked out power to the print facility in West Valley that prints and circulates the Deseret News and The Salt Lake Tribune, preventing printing and distribution of the papers.
“We regret that The Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News, as well as the Sunday New York Times will not be printed,” said Brent Lowe, president and CEO of Newspaper Agency Company. “Rocky Mountain Power assured us they are working to restore power as quickly as possible, but it could be a lengthy delay.”
Rocky Mountain Power was unable to clarify what failed in the transformer and were sending an additional crew to work on the problem through the night.
