Letter: Read up on the struggle in Catalonia

My family lived in Catalunya for four years recently; my son was born in Barcelona. We identify with Spaniards and Catalans. The Catalans are good, peaceful people. Peacefulness is a core Catalan value. Their people have been oppressed historically and continue to be repressed.

The Catalan people’s right to vote was denied in a violent and unjust fashion this last month in what the Spanish government calls a democracy.

I ask you to read about and understand this struggle. Come to your own conclusions and think about how this relates to us in the United States.
