Legendary Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando will retire at the end of the 2019 season

Rimando, who enters his 20th season in the league — 13th with RSL — announced his decision on Twitter on Friday. He thanked his family, children, RSL, D.C. United, and the game as a whole.

“As always I’m looking forward to competing and giving everything I can to the club and RSL’s supporters,” Rimando wrote. “Let’s make this final go around the most memorable.”

The MLS veteran in 2018 became the first keeper in league history to reach 200 wins. He holds the MLS record in games played, minutes, shutouts and wins.

Rimando was drafted in 35th overall in the 2000 MLS SuperDraft by Miami.
