First funerals poised to begin for victims of Mexico ambush. About 500 expected for services honoring slain mother and her two sons.

La Mora, Mexico • The first funerals were poised to begin here Thursday for the U.S. citizens slaughtered in an ambush in northern Mexico.

At least 500 people were expected at the funeral for Dawna Ray Langford and her 11-year-old son, Trevor Harvey Langford, and 2-year-old son, Rogan Jay Langford.

Many of the mourners are family from Utah and elsewhere in the United States. Some of the relatives drove from U.S. border crossings, where they met Mexican soldiers who escorted them on the remaining four-hour drive to La Mora.

In all, three mothers and six children died in the attack on the road a few miles from La Mora.
