Rachel Corsie and the Scotland National Team got their start in the FIFA Women’s World Cup on Sunday, facing of against fellow United Kingdom foes, England. In their first-ever World Cup match, Corsie captained Scotland at center back to a 2-1 loss to the third-ranked team in the world.
Scotland got off to an unfortunate start after England’s Fran Kirby sent a cross in, meeting the arm of left back Nicola Docherty. Using Video Assistant Referee [VAR] England was awarded a penalty under the new rule of “zero tolerance” for handballs inside the box.
