BYU basketball signs Shengzhe Li, a 6-foot-10 center from Shanghai, China

Provo • With star forward Yoeli Childs likely moving on to the professional ranks after this season and fellow post player Luke Worthington graduating, BYU will need some inside help next year.

Coach Dave Rose took a step in that direction Friday, signing 6-foot-10 center Shengzhe Li, a native of Shanghai, China, who currently plays for former BYU assistant Jeff Reinert at Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Southern California. Li averaged 6.8 points and 5.6 rebounds last season in helping Santa Margarita to a 20-10 record.

“Shengzhe is a polished and skilled post player [who] really understands how to play the game,” Rose said in a school news release.
