Illinois State has now raided Purdue assistants for two of their three flagship men’s sports coaches. First it was Brock Spack, who has done very well as head coach of Redbird football. Now Steve Holm is leaving Purdue baseball after two seasons to take over as the head coach at Illinois State.

Holm, a former major leaguer with the San Francisco Giants, served as pitching coach the past two seasons under Mark Wasikowski. He was part of the tremendous turnaround for the program from 10 wins, to 27 wins, to 38 wins and the third NCAA berth in school history.
